Mission

  •  In the information on this site, I would like to share information on my background, civic involvement and views on issues relevant to our city.  Please feel free to contact me if you have ideas, questions or would like more information.

  • Community involvement is a core value, from my early Eagle Scout service project, as a paramedic, to my current role as a member of your City Council, I believe in participating and finding solutions to issues facing our community.

  • I was elected to the FHCC in 2003, and have served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2006. I am the liaison to the commission on aging and the current Chairperson for your emergency preparedness commission.  The emergency preparedness commission has been honored as a top program and has been showcased as a national model.  Further, I represent FH by serving on the NLC PSCP steering committee, bringing the voice of local communities to the national level.I am on the Botsford Hospital Board of Directors and I have served as president of the COHA. Currently I am the Vice President for my local homeowners association.  I am proud to be part of our community.
  • During my time on council, we have dealt with a number of tough issues and made important accomplishments.  As examples, we have kept our city property tax rate constant, and working collaboratively with city staff, maintained our AA-bond rating which saves more tax dollars.  On the infrastructure side, we have updated many sections of our storm sewer system, a number of subdivision roads have been re-paved, the new fire station and Jon Grant community center were opened, roads such as Halstead, 9 Mile, and 13 Mile have been repaved, and the sidewalk along Drake road was finally completed.  Our economic development team has worked to keep both Chrysler Financial and Daimler Financial in our town and secured an expansion of the Hitachi facility all which add more than 500 new jobs to our community.  We commissioned a sustainability study of the community which incorporated a complete review the city divisions to map how we might work proactively to ensure the long-term stability and viability of our city.  This is a first of its kind study.
  • Farmington Hills still has challenges.  Maintenance of our residential communities, continuing economic stability, and business retention and recruitment are all important goals.  A slow economy, loss of state revenue sharing dollars, and shifting of federal dollars from direct funding of local public safety, to homeland security, present challenges to our city budget. Funding appropriate city services is paramount.  Those services that involve public safety, such as fire, police, and emergency medical services, waste removal, infrastructure maintenance, must be supported.
  • All programs must be critically reviewed by city council  with cost – benefit analysis and the desires of our residents driving decisions.
  • In the past year, my job, along many others, was relocated out-of-state.  My family feels strongly about the positive attributes of our community, so I changed jobs and we stayed here.  This is our home.  I plan to participate in finding solutions to keep this community a great place to live.
  • We have a great community.  FH is repeatedly ranked as one of the top ten safest cities in the US based on FBI statistics.  Further, last year CNN Money magazine, ranked FH as the 29th best city in which to live in the US and we can strive improve on that.
  • Let’s work together and keep our positive momentum. If you are a voter who desires a council member, sensitive and responsive to your issues, who will serve as your representative and advocate, and who will strive to maintain the positive aspects of our community, I respectfully ask you to support me with your vote on Nov 8th.
  • Thank you for taking the time to learn more about your leadership options.
